LaunchVault Field Guide
A B2B Lead-Generation Workflow for Independent Consultants
Effective lead generation for a small consulting practice is a research and follow-through process. This workflow helps you move from a defined segment to relevant conversations without relying on bulk, generic outreach.
In this guide
- 1. Build a repeatable research loop
- 2. Define records before writing
- 3. Create responsible opening messages
- 4. Capture each outcome
The six-stage workflow
Run these stages in order. Separating research from outreach makes it easier to spot when a message is ready and when a record still needs work.
01
Choose a narrow segment
Select a buyer type and business situation you can describe in plain language. A narrower starting point improves research and message quality.
02
Find a truthful signal
Review public sources for a meaningful event, change, problem, or stated priority. Capture the source and your short relevance note.
03
Qualify before contact
Confirm the role, company, and potential fit. Do not use an uncertain hunch as the basis for a message.
04
Write one relevant opening
Lead with context, make only supportable claims, and offer a small next step rather than forcing a pitch.
05
Follow up with context
If appropriate, send a brief follow-up that adds clarity or closes the loop. Respect opt-outs and applicable contact rules.
06
Record the outcome
Log the response, stage, next action, and any lesson. A good workflow learns from what happens instead of restarting from memory.
Fields to capture before outreach
Company
The organization and a link to the source you reviewed.
Buyer role
The role most likely to recognize or sponsor the problem.
Relevant signal
A factual change, priority, or public context—not a generic label.
Working hypothesis
A question you want to test in conversation, not a claim that you already know the answer.
Message angle
One concise reason a conversation could be useful.
Next action
The specific action and date required to keep the record current.
A record that lacks context is a research task, not a contact task. This distinction keeps the workflow useful and reduces the pressure to send messages that are not ready.
Opening-message review checklist
- The message names specific context without pretending to know internal details.
- The reason for contacting the person is relevant to their role.
- The offer is framed as a possible way to help, not an outcome you can guarantee.
- The call to action is small and clear: a question, a brief conversation, or permission to send something useful.
- The message has an accurate sender identity and a respectful way to decline further contact.
Use a reusable workflow
Keep the research, outreach, and follow-up connected
The AI Client Acquisition OS provides editable worksheets, outreach sequences, a pipeline CSV, follow-up templates, and a 30-day action plan for consultants who want a structured starting point. It supports your process; it does not supply leads or guarantee replies.
For the full sequence, use the client acquisition template, 30-day plan, discovery-call framework, pipeline tracker, and sales-pipeline template.
