LaunchVault Field Guide
A Consultant Sales-Pipeline Template That Supports Real Follow-Through
A sales pipeline for a consulting practice is not a forecast to admire. It is a shared view of what is true now, what needs to happen next, and where a qualified opportunity needs more clarity.
In this guide
- 1. Define stages by evidence
- 2. Qualify conversations consistently
- 3. Capture actionable fields
- 4. Review the pipeline weekly
A simple consultant sales-pipeline template
Each stage should describe observable progress, not optimism. If an opportunity does not meet the definition, move it back or close it rather than leaving it in limbo.
| Stage | Definition | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Research | A possible fit with a documented relevance signal. | Confirm fit, buyer role, and useful context. |
| Ready to contact | The record has enough context for a relevant first message. | Review and send an accurate opening note. |
| Conversation | A reply, referral, or meeting creates an active exchange. | Prepare the next question, recap, or call. |
| Qualified | The problem, timing, and decision path indicate a real opportunity. | Agree on scope, a diagnostic step, or proposal process. |
| Decision | A proposal or defined next decision is with the buyer. | Set a named follow-up date and owner. |
| Closed | The opportunity is won, paused, referred, or not a fit. | Record the outcome and what to learn from it. |
Qualification questions before a proposal
A proposal is more useful when it reflects a well-understood problem and a realistic decision path. Use these questions to test whether the opportunity belongs in a qualified stage.
- What is happening now that makes this conversation relevant?
- What is the practical impact if the problem remains unresolved?
- What have they already tried or decided not to try?
- Who needs to contribute to or approve a decision?
- What is the realistic next step, and who owns it?
Weekly pipeline review checklist
- Scan every non-closed opportunity for a next action and date.
- Move records backward when the evidence no longer supports their stage.
- Close stale loops instead of treating silence as an active pipeline stage.
- Look for one recurring bottleneck: research quality, conversation quality, scope, or follow-through.
- Choose one process adjustment for the next week and keep the rest stable long enough to learn.
Put the pipeline to work
Start with a structured set of working files
The AI Client Acquisition OS includes an editable pipeline CSV alongside an implementation guide, ICP and offer worksheet, outreach sequences, discovery-call framework, follow-up templates, and 30-day action plan. It is designed to help you run the process; it does not replace judgment or guarantee sales.
Start upstream with the client acquisition template and B2B lead-generation workflow. Then connect this tracker to the 30-day plan, discovery-call framework, and client-acquisition pipeline tracker.
